The water level in Lake Ōkāreka is now well within the consented target range.
The water flow down the Waitangi Stream has now been turned down to less than 100 L/s to ensure the lake level doesn’t get down too low with the long term weather forecast for fine weather.
Erosion protection works on the Waitangi Stream have also started this week and will go on for the next few months.
The works are to build-up and protect the stream banks of the Waitangi Stream from erosion.
While this work is being undertaken native fish species have been relocated out of the stream.
