You will be considered Permitted from 1 July 2017 to 30 June 2022 and not require resource consent. You may continue to farm as you currently are so long as you do not increase your nitrogen loss and you provide land use information, if requested, to Bay of Plenty Regional Council annually.
From 1 July 2022 you may be considered a Permitted Activity or Controlled Activity.
Permitted – If your nitrogen loss from the effective area is less than 57% of the nitrogen loss rate generated by the drystock reference file you will be considered a permitted activity and not require resource consent. You will need to provide an annual OverseerFM analysis to show nitrogen loss.
Controlled – You will require resource consent. As part of the consent requirements you will need to develop a Nutrient Management Plan to show the steps you take to meet your Nitrogen Discharge Allocation by 2032.
