Aquatic weeds such as hornwort contribute to the amount of nitrogen in the lake. By removing hornwort annually water quality can be improved.
Weed harvesting has an immediate effect on water quality, but it needs to be done annually to get the benefits of this intervention. As soon as we stop weed harvesting we risk water quality declining again.
